The GFAA created the Avis Murray Award to be given to the individual who demonstrates extraordinary contributions to Gloucester Athletics. Avis Murray, a Gloucester Hall of Fame and USTA New England Hall of Fame member in tennis is the head professional at Bass Rocks Golf Club.

The GFAA sponsored this community initiative developed by the Gloucester Youth Initiatives Task Force 2011, comprised of GHS varsity athletes and honor students to develop the PRIDE acronym and code of conduct. The GFAA asks all Gloucester athletes, coaches, and spectators to follow the Gloucester PRIDE Code of Conduct:
P - Positive role models for Gloucester's youth
R - Respect for players, officials, coaches, and spectators
I - Involved, supportive and encouraging adults
D - Dedicated to building good character, sportsmanship, and excellence
E - Equity for athletes of all ages, races, religions, genders, and abilities
September 6, 2013 - The GFAA completes the $3.5M "renewal" of Newell Stadium and the creation of New Balance Track & Field with the grand opening celebration. Ribbon Cutting Ceremony:
The GFAA will be holding its Spring Work Day on Saturday March 23rd from 9:00am-12:00pm at Gloucester High School. Play golf at Bass Rocks Golf Club and 50% of your fee will be donated to the scoreboard at the New Balance Track and Field at Newell Stadium.
